Himalayan Heli Ski Guides was founded in 2001. It is the first and only Company allowed to Heli Ski in the Kingdom of Nepal. Each year Himalayan Heli Ski Guides (HHSG) will open a new area in Nepal's Himalaya for Heli Skiing. In agreement with the Nepalese Ministry of Tourism, this will be done in a way, which pays respect to the native people, the environment and the wildlife.

All HHSG guides are certified UIAGM mountain guides. HHSG will provide 2 guides per group of 6/8 people. The first guide will always go first and set a line for the clients to follow, afterwards each client will go down one by one. The second guide will go last. In this matter we can take best control of eventual slides occurring while skiing.

Himalayan Heli Ski Guides will provide the standard heliski items for all clients. These items include Barryvox avalanche detectors, Probes, Shovels, etc. In the case of an emergency rescue or accident, HHSG will fly in a rescue team and or doctors immediately should the need arise.

Prior to the first Heliski run your guides will give you an orientation on how to operate the Barryvox devices provided by HHSG, if you brought your own they will synchronize your avalanche search device with ours.

For precaution reasons the chopper will carry onboard a fully stocked base camp, with tents, sleeping bags & insulate pads, food, stoves, drinks, satellite phone & laptop, etc.

  • Miles Smart
  • Miles Smart is an IFMGA/UIAGM mountain guide. He is the 2004 recipient of the AMGA Guide of the Year award and at the age of 24, is the youngest American to be certified by the AMGA in all disciplines: rock, ski, and alpine. He currently guides around the globe, working independently as well as for companies such as Exum Mountain Guides, Skiers lodge La Grave, and Doug Coomb's Steep Skiing Camps. Outside of Miles' professional guiding career his accomplishments include numerous speed climbing ascents and ski mountaineering descents. He has climbed El Capitan in Yosemite 18 times via 14 different routes. He established one of the most difficult routes on El Capitan, "Disorderly Conduct." He has skied lines such as the Gervasutti Couloir and the North Face of the Aiguille du Midi in Chamonix, and the Grand Teton in Wyoming. His climbing exploits include climbing on the Trango Towers in Pakistan, and speed records on El Capitan and Half Dome. One such speed record, the North America Wall on El Capitan, took just over 9 and ½ hours. Today Miles is equally as passionate about showing others the mountains as he is about pushing his own limits in them.
